Hamdard Matab

In 1906: Hakim Hafiz Abdul Majeed had setup Hamdard Dawakhana in a small 1 room shop in Old Delhi, divided in two by a curtain. His skill and integrity earned him success and renown.

In 1948: Hakim Mohammed Said established Hamdard Pakistan in a similarly small way in Old Karachi. 2 rented rooms, Rs12 worth of rented furniture. His consultations were always completely free. Only the prescribed Eastern herbal medicaments were sold, and even those at very affordable rates. Like his father’s his success was earned by hard work and integrity.

His association with Arambagh clinic, in fact, had a special place in his heart. The significance of this place is reflected in the life and death of Hakeem Mohammad Said, as the point of beginning and the end of his journey to serve the humanity which is spread over seven decades in Pakistan.
